On Saturday, October 9 our local airport and aviation club held an Airport Awareness Day. It was a fun reason to go to the airport and see some cool airplanes! We live in a small town, but there were lots of airplanes there to see up close. We could even go inside this old bomber. It was nice of them to open this up for the community. Several of these airplanes were also flown in from other towns. We saw a long line of people waiting to take a ride in one of the planes not shown here, but we were content to just look around and stay on the ground that day!

You can see that she is leaning forward in the picture above because the bomber was sitting at quite a steep angle. It was also close to 80 degrees that afternoon and it was really hot inside of this one!

| J thought this bi-plane was cool! |
J did an Aerospace project for 4H this summer, so it was neat to go see some real planes like we studied in his Aerospace book.

| What a cool helicopter! |
We got to get up close to all of the aircraft and it was neat to see them. These photos show some of our favorites and the most colorful aircraft that we saw. We saw the same helicopter taking off and landing with our friend in it before we were able to look at the cockpit. It was neat to see where he had been sitting while on his ride just a few minutes before. B wanted to take a ride in the big, red helicopter, but in the end we decided not to try it that day. This was a fun, free field trip!
