We also journeyed through time while we watched the Drive Thru History dvd, Episode 2. It is about the Separatists, Pilgrims, and the first Thanksgiving. The host is hilarious and we learned new things about these people, but the most fun is to really see the historic places where some of these events may have taken place, like Plymouth Rock. We have watched other episodes and the kids enjoyed these history videos!
We made these fabulous handprint turkeys last year. Check out this post from November, 2010 with more photos.
We also made these Countdown to Thanksgiving lapbooks. I need to get them out so that we can read what the children were thankful for last year.
This year, we might try to make a Thanksgiving wreathe as a simpler version of a Thanksgiving tree. We are hosting a breakfast on Thanksgiving for the first time and this might be a great way to begin our Thanksgiving Day. You might find ispiration in this cool Thanksgiving tree!

I've not heard of The Very First Thanksgiving Day. I'll have to watch for it at used books sales. Thanks for stopping by Stephanie's Mommy Brain before Thanksgiving. It's always fun to see what other home school families are using and learning!
