"Your Word is a light unto my feet and a lamp unto my path." Psalm 119:105

Hello and welcome! I'm a former elementary music educator, turned mom and home educator for more than 15 years. I have a passion for teaching, singing, and encouraging others along the way! Although I began blogging as a way to create a journal of our home education journey, I enjoy writing about a variety of topics related to home education, family, friends, and faith. I hope you enjoy journeying along with us!

Colossians 2:6-7 A Picture of a Tree

Colossians 2:6-7
"As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving." (NKJV)
I love how Paul uses this verse as a picture of a tree that has been rooted securely in Christ, has grown tall and strong in faith, and has withstood many storms and still blooms fully in thanksgiving!  Paul was encouraging this group of first century Christians in Colosse to continue in their new faith as they had been taught, despite other influences in their culture.  These verses tell us how to begin with our roots in Christ, but to keep growing in Him!
We are to "walk in Him" as we have been taught.  We are to remain faithful and thankful.  We need to have deeply, secure roots so that our faith may grow tall and strong!  We can be full of thankfulness and focus on God's goodness in our lives, despite what they world may tell us.  I believe that when we are fully thankful, like the bright orange and red hues of a maple in autumn, others cannot help to notice our thankful attitudes.  We can spread the joy and love of Christ with thankfulness in our hearts!
I want to be like that tree!  I also want to teach my family and friends to be like that tree so that they may also enjoy the fullness and abundance of a life in Christ.  Lord, help me to keep my roots secure in You, to grow in You, and to remain full of faith and thanksgiving, walking with You!
