My daughter started up private gymnastics lessons again. She fractured her toe last November and then danced three times a week last spring semester, after her foot healed. She is excited to be back in the gym with her favorite and inspiring Coach Julia! I'm excited for her to work on some skills that she still wants to accomplish and to have a fun way to work on physical fitness.
Our son and his friends have been conditioning and learning the basics of football since July. They have been meeting for practice twice each week. We have been so thankful for this type of physical education for our boys and they have developed great relationships along the way. Even though there are only 7 players on our homeschool football team right now and it's not enough to even play a scrimmage, it's been valuable time spent on the field.
For school, we have started to get into a little bit more of a routine. I have been helping J to bookmark resources we are using on the internet, like Quizlet and Sheppard Software, so he can go use them on his own. He also enjoys listening to the audio books of his literature and is ahead of schedule on completing his current book! He and I are working on Latin together each day and it's good practice for both of us.
B is doing well with having some time with me in the morning and then working on some things on her own before lunch or in the afternoon. Being a 4th year Essentials student, she is breezing through the English grammar and writing assignments and can do them very independently! She still says she "hates math", but she is doing well with her new Math U See book which is all about fractions. She enjoyed visiting our an ArtsFest at our local Art Center. She painted a fence post that will be display at the Art Center with many other fence post people all in a row. The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts also has it's own printing museum and she used the large old printing press! What a cool piece of history!
In Classical Conversations, we enjoyed observing and talking about our fingerprints. Each child use the grahite of a pencil and tape to make their own set of fingerprints to take home. A brother and sister also created an entire puppet show of the Christopher Columbus history sentence a couple of weeks ago, and I just have to share the photo of their wonderful puppets below.
I enjoyed a great time with the Middle School Youth Group on Wednesday night as we kicked off our "WOW" (What's On Wednesday?) program for church. This is a fun group of kind kids who I know well and both of my children are in MIDDLE SCHOOL this year! It's crazy how big they are getting!
We also enjoyed a fantastic display of natural beauty and God's creation in a field of wildflowers that we found on our land last weekend. It was just stunning! I've never seen so many flowers in one place and they all grow there on their very own, with no real help from people. God's design is amazing!
